Zidovudine belongs to a class of drugs known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors-NRTIs. Zidovudine is used in pregnant women to prevent passing the HIV virus to the unborn baby. This medication is also used in newborns born to mothers infected with HIV to prevent infection in the newborns.

Zidovir 300Mg Tablet is used along with other medication to treat HIV infections. It is also used by women to prevent passing on the HIV virus to their fetus during pregnancy. Having anti viral properties, it prevents the reproduction of the HIV virus. Similarly, it is also used in newborns to prevent them from catching the virus from their HIV positive mothers.

If you have liver, bone marrow and kidney problems, let your doctor know. If you are already pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, let your doctor know as well. Medicines like doxorubicin, stavudine and ribavirin reduce Zidovir 300Mg Tablets effectiveness. Medicines that may contain Zidovir 300Mg Tablet like ganciclovi and interferon alfa, may increase the chances of its side effects.
